Simone Barone

Italy 2017

A World Cup winner, Barone played his entire career in Italy and was known for his work-rate, endurance and intelligence. He started his career with Parma, before moving to Chievo. Following a return to Parma, he then moved on to Palermo and helped them achieve their greatest ever season in the Italian top flight, and qualify for Europe for the first time. This coincided with a call-up to the national team. He appeared twice at the World Cup in 2006, and scored his only goal against Russia in 2005.
