Roberto Carlos

Brazil 2017

Roberto Carlos, Brazil

Roberto Carlos became the most famous left-back in world football, changing the whole idea of how a full-back should play with his attacking philosophy. Having started his career in Brazil, it was when he moved to Europe he would make his name. He was one of Real Madrid’s Galácticos and became a legend in the Spanish capital. Also a superb free-kick taker, his long-range swerving set-piece around a mesmerised French wall at Le Tournoi in 1997 is one of the most memorable strikes of all time.
