Roberto Carlos Goes All-out Attack as he Picks his Star Sixes Dream Team

Brazilian left-back and Star Sixes legend Roberto Carlos is a three-time Champions League winner and a World Champion with the Samba Boys, so it’s no surprise he has played alongside a galaxy of football megastars.

He spent eleven years at Real Madrid, and also enjoyed spells at Internazionale, Corinthians and Fenerbahce, among others.

After winning 125 international caps for Brazil, he’ll be lining up once more for his country at the first Star Sixes tournament at London’s O2 Arena in July.

As excitement builds for the summer, we asked Carlos to select his a dream six-a-side team from all his former teammates. Not an easy job, but he decided to go fairly top-heavy, with no defenders and a monumental attacking unit. And who could blame him?

Goalkeeper: Dida
Two-time Champions League-winning keeper with AC Milan, was also on the bench as Brazil won the World Cup in 2002. Played alongside Carlos for the Samba Boys during his 91-cap international career.

Midfielder: Gilberto Silva
Brazilian defensive midfielder who enjoyed his best football during a six-year spell at Arsenal, where he was one of the Gunners’ ‘Invincibles’ in their successful 2003-04 campaign. Arrived at Highbury shortly after winning the 2002 World Cup alongside Carlos.

Midfielder: David Beckham
The former England skipper was one of Real Madrid’s ‘Galacticos’ and played with Carlos during his four years in Spain. A Champions League winner with Manchester United and arguably the world’s most famous footballer.

Midfielder: Luis Figo
One of few players to play for both Barcelona and Real Madrid, Portugal’s second-most capped player behind Cristiano Ronaldo. Appeared alongside Carlos during his five-year stay in Madrid, winning one Champions League.

Midfielder: Zinedine Zidane
Played with Carlos at Real Madrid for five years. The French World Cup winner is regarded as one of the best players ever to play the game and is now boss at the Bernabeu.

Forward: Ronaldo Nazario
A World Cup winner with Carlos as Brazil became champions in 2002. Also spent five years together at Real Madrid and a brief spell towards the latter part of their careers at Corinthians.

That’s Roberto Carlos’s side, and it’s not bad at all. But which players would you pick in your Star Sixes dream team? Send us your selections via social media on Twitter, on Instagram or at Facebook.
