Raúl Meireles

Portugal 2017

Starting his career with Boavista, Raúl Meireles went on to win four successive league titles with Portuguese giants Porto. He then moved to Merseyside with Liverpool for a year before a switch to Chelsea. While at Stamford Bridge he helped them lift The FA Cup and then conquer Europe by winning the 2012 Champions League in his sole season with the club. His final move was to Istanbul with Fenerbahçe, where he won the league title in 2014. Capable of playing anywhere across the midfield line, he preferred to play centrally and was used in both defensive and attacking roles. For Portugal he made 73 appearances and was picked for two World Cups and two European Championships.
