Pedro Contreras

Spain 2017

Contreras came through the Real Madrid academy, and earned a Champions League winners medal while at Los Blancos. It was when he moved to Málaga in 1999 that the Madrid-born goalkeeper enjoyed his best years, leading him to being called up for Spain’s World Cup squad in 2002 as an understudy to Iker Casillas. Later that year he made his debut, keeping a clean sheet in a draw with Paraguay. He moved to Betis in 2003, winning the Copa del Rey there and helped them qualify for the Champions League for the first time.
