Nuno Gomes

Nuno Gomes is best known for his spells with Lisbon giants Benfica, split by a two-year stint in Serie A with Fiorentina. Having built his reputation following his Boavista debut at 18, he moved to Benfica after scoring against them in the Portuguese Cup final. In his second spell at Benfica he won three consecutive league titles. He finished his playing career with Blackburn after a year at Braga. At international level Gomes played in two World Cups and three UEFA EUROs. He helped Portugal reach the final at EURO 2004 and played a total of 79 games for his country, including captaining his team at EURO 2008.
