Míchel Salgado

Spain 2017

Míchel Salgado was the perfect right back for Real Madrid’s Galácticos era, having joined from Celta Vigo in 1999. With capabilities in both defence and attack, he tirelessly burst up and down the right flank, showing both his physical and technical abilities. A born winner and a constant presence for every Madrid manager, he won multiple titles over a ten-year spell with ‘Los Blancos’, including two UEFA Champions League’s. Popular with fans for his courage and never say die attitude, he moved to Blackburn Rovers where he was equally loved. At international level he was part of Spain’s squad at EURO 2000 and 2006 FIFA World Cup, missing out on tournaments in 2002 and 2004 solely through injury.
