Reich started his career with Kaiserslautern in the second tier of German football and remained with Die Roten Teufel for five seasons. During that time they won promotion, the Bundesliga and a DFB-Pokal. He lifted a second Bundesliga title with Werder Bremen, after a spell at Köln. He proved himself in the Championship with good stints with Crystal Palace and Derby. The highlight of his time in England was scoring the League Cup winner for Palace against reigning European champions Liverpool. As a youngster he was considered one of his country’s most talented and promising players and became known as a free-kick specialist.
