Joaquín Reyes started his career at Santos Laguna, and in two spells over ten years became one of their greatest players of all time, and just the ninth player to earn the title “Guerrero de Honor” (Warrior of Honour) there. He played a significant part of the Santos side that won the second title in the club’s history and was also in the Mexico squad for both the Confederations Cup in 2001 and the Gold Cup in 2002. His best moment for his country was as a member of the team that reached the final of Copa América in 2001.
