Emile Heskey has selected his all-time dream six-a-side team, and it features one of his Star Sixes teammates.
The former Leicester, Liverpool and Aston Villa striker will be pulling on the England shirt again this summer as he represents his country at the inaugural Star Sixes tournament at The O2.
And as he begins preparation for the exciting new competition at the iconic London venue, Heskey thought about the prospect of selecting a fantasy team from his own football heroes.
“I’d probably go with David Seaman in goal,” said Heskey, who played with the former Arsenal stopper during his 62-cap international career.
“Centre-backs would be [Paolo] Maldini, alongside Rio [Ferdinand].
“In midfielder I’d go with Zizou, Zinedine Zidane, and Messi.
“And I’ve got to put Romario in there too.”
Heskey also chose a six-a-side team based on players he’s played with, all ex-England stars, and some who will be at The O2 with the 2001 UEFA Cup winner this July.
“I’ve got to say Jamo [David James] haven’t I!” smiled Heskey.
“And Rio (Ferdinand) will have to be in there too, but it depends on what formation I go with. But Rio and Sol (Campbell), that’s solid, very solid.
“Then I’d probably go with Stevie [Gerrard] and Scholesy [Paul Scholes] in midfield and then Michael [Owen] up front!”
