Scotland midfielder Don Hutchison can’t wait for Star Sixes to get under way this summer and believes the Tartan Army will be out in their numbers to cheer their team on.
The ex-Liverpool, Everton and West Ham United man will be lining up for his country in the 12-team tournament, which takes place in London at The O2 from 13 to 16 July.
Alongside him will be another former Anfield icon, Dominic Matteo, as well as Scottish legends Barry Ferguson, Christian Dailly and Paul Dickov.
Meanwhile, they’ve been drawn in Group A where they will face Spain, captained by Carles Puyol, Mexico, who have Jared Borgetti and Jorge Campos as skippers…and hosts England!
The Auld Enemy will go head to head in the dome in the Friday night session, which will make for a great night of entertainment as Hutchison locks horns with England icons Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand and David James.
“It’s going to be a fantastic event, some great teams and great individuals as well. We’re super-pumped,” said Hutchison, who scored a memorable Wembley winner in a EURO play-off against the Three Lions back in 1999, though it wasn’t enough to send his team to the finals.
“Any sporting event, whether it’s football, rugby, whatever, the Tartan Army will always turn out in force.
“I’m sure they’ll come down and it’s certainly worth any fan paying the money as the calibre of player is exceptional.”
